Director

John is a former Treasury, corporate finance and risk management executive whose career spanned the Canadian resource, telecommunications and power industries in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta. Since retirement he has served on the Boards and as Treasurer of the Royal Glenora Club (a premier Edmonton sports club) and Canterbury Foundation ( a non-profit Edmonton seniors’ facility) as both were undergoing multi-million redevelopments.  Owing to his lifelong connection to Muskoka, He is now looking to serve on the MLA Board to help it promote, preserve and enhance the Muskoka cottage experience in cooperation with local businesses and residents, with special emphasis on safe and responsible boating.

A lifelong Muskokan at heart, from the age of 6 weeks he vacationed with his parents at Paignton House, a wonderful family-owned former lodge on Lake Rosseau until in 1958 they bought Maywood at the entrance to the Indian River. There he learned to paddle, row, waterski and race sailboats. In 1982, he purchased his own little piece of heaven (the pale blue boathouse cottage om the Indian River, Rosseau side) where his own family also learned the watersports and wonderful cottage life.  When he moved west he had no qualms about selling his house in Toronto but could not part with the cottage.
