James (Jamie) started his education in Marine Biology in British Columbia but then changed tracks graduating from McMaster Medical Centre in 1989. He is currently on Faculty in the Department of Medicine at UofT and is a Director at MedSleep (Network of Clinics). He has served in the past on the Board of the Tri-Island Association (Lake Muskoka) that eventually merged with the MLA. He is deeply committed to advocating for environmental issues and remains actively involved with charitable organizations such as Greenpeace and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. His father bought 3 acres of property from a fascinating old farmer named Fred Foreman (as in Foreman Road) in the area called (Rossclair) on Lake Muskoka the year he was born. The cottage was sold many years later due to his father’s health issues. He and his wife bought the current cottage on Eilean Gowan (Eilean is Gaelic for ‘island’) on Lake Muskoka in 1985 while he was still a student, with a little help from the parents of course. This cottage is the place he wants to be the most when not at his home nearer his career interests. He looks forward to many more Summers with children, grandchildren, and visiting family. There is no better place to spend meaningful time. There is no place for which he’d rather advocate. |
