This is a call for Paddlers!!!
Up at the cottage for the Thanksgiving Weekend and finding the waters too cool for swimming? Go paddling instead!!
Come out for a great paddling experience on the Muskoka River between the Falls and Lake Muskoka.
The Great Muskoka Paddling Experience event is a paddling race involving canoes and kayaks. Paddlers of all levels are invited to enjoy the great Fall colours as they paddle the beautiful Muskoka River.
Paddlers will be able to find the category that suits them. There are many categories for men, women, youth and type of boats.
Two race are set up with different distances: 12km and 20km.
The event is a fundraiser for the Muskoka Watershed Council. The Muskoka Lakes Association has been a strong supporter of the Watershed Council's programs.
The Paddle Shack will have a sales booth at Annie Williams Park to rent out boats and will have on hand safety and paddling gear. Take advantage of this opportunity to try paddling a boat you've been thinking about . To avoid disappointment, call ahead to reserve any rental equipment you may need from Paddle Shack or our other paddling equipment sponsor, Algonquin Outfitters.
Patrol boats will be out for safety and to monitor check points. The Bracebridge Fire Dept fire-boat also plans to be out.
For the non-paddlers ( families, friends, supporters of the paddlers) , Bracebridge's famous red Trolley Bus will be providing a free shuttle service from Annie Williams Park (base of operations for the event) to Bracebridge Bay where the start and finishes can be watched, up to the stores on Manitoba Street and to the last Bracebridge Farmers Market of the season.
Registration opens at 8:00am and ends at 10:00am. Races start at 10:30 and 11:00.
