Upcoming Gravenhurst Zoning ByLaw Meeting

This notice is with regard to the approval of Gravenhurst's new Zoning By-Law which is in respect to non-complying dwellings within the required setback from the optimal summer water level.

This public meeting will take place on Saturday, September 18 at 9 am in Gravenhurst.

MLA Comments on Township of Muskoka Lakes new zoning bylaw

The MLA recently attended a meeting held by the Township of Muskoka Lakes regarding their new zoning by-law.

Consequently a letter was drafted and send to the Township with regard to several concerns the MLA had with the new by-law.

Port Carling Small Locks to Remain Open for July & August

The Muskoka Lakes Association (MLA) and the District of Muskoka (Muskoka) are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement on extended operation hours for the small lock at Port Carling for the summer of 2010.

Port Carling Lock Hours have Changed Did you know

There currently is an issue surrounding the change in hours of operation of the Port Carling Locks. In the past, the locks have been open 24 hours a day with the small locks. However this past winter, the district has cut the hours of the lock operations.

The MLA is investigating this and currently waiting for answers from the district.

President Brian McElwain Addresses Township about Taxes

`The proposed effective tax increase of 6.37% (but really a 8.49% increase) is well above inflation and not in line with what is happening with incomes and the economy in Muskoka.`
