The proposed effective tax increase of 6.37% (but really a 8.49% increase) is well above inflation and not in line with what is happening with incomes and the economy in Muskoka.

There currently is an issue surrounding the change in hours of operation of the Port Carling Locks. In the past, the locks have been open 24 hours a day with the small locks. However this past winter, the district has cut the hours of the lock operations.

The MLA is investigating this and currently waiting for answers from the district.

The MLA recently attended a meeting held by the Township of Muskoka Lakes regarding their new zoning by-law.

Consequently a letter was drafted and send to the Township with regard to several concerns the MLA had with the new by-law.

This notice is with regard to the approval of Gravenhurst's new Zoning By-Law which is in respect to non-complying dwellings within the required setback from the optimal summer water level.

This public meeting will take place on Saturday, September 18 at 9 am in Gravenhurst.
